MANILA, Philippines – The San Miguel Beermen came back strong against the Talk N Text Tropang Texters with a breakthrough win in Game 3 of their Best-of-7 PBA Philippine Cup finals series on Friday.
According to PBA.ph, the scores were 103-82 in favor of San Miguel.
Swingman Arwind Santos came up with big numbers, tallying a total of 20 points for the Beermen, who dominated the Tropang Texters all throughout Game 3.
Although Talk N Text is still ahead in the best-of-7 affair, 2-1, the momentum has shifted to San Miguel, which struggled heavily against the Tropang Texters in Game 1 and 2.
“We played great tonight, particularly on defense,” San Miguel mentor Ato Agustin said.
San Miguel sized the game right off the bat with stifling defense. The Beermen also took every opportunity to score against the stunned Tropang Texters.
The Beermen’s bench contributed significantly in scoring with Sunday Salvacion draining 13 points and Alex Cabagnot adding 12.
Veteran Danny Ildefonso chipped in 12 points while Jay tallied 10.
“We saw the real San Miguel team today. We got our butt kicked. That’s what happens when you're not ready,” said Talk N Text coach Chot Reyes.
The absence of Ryan Reyes, who had to fly to the US for his brother’s funeral, obviously affected the Tropang Texters. Reyes averages 15 points per game.
Talk N Text’s Jason Castro scored 13, the same output made by Tropang Texters' playmaker Jimmy Alapag.
