MANILA, Philippines The first time Maroon 5 main man Adam Levine met Filipino fans in a 2008 Manila concert, he was completely floored by how fans knew every song they performed that night.
In one emotional mid-song speech Levine said they felt most at home with Pinoys and promised a return show.
Levine did not forget that night’s energy posting on Twitter March 20: “@143keiko sending love to all of our Filipino fans!!!”
This was in response to a supporter’s post, “adamlevine i wished to the moon last night that adamlevine will send his love to all his FILIPINO FANS, i am 1 of them.”
In a previous interview with Bulletin Entertainment and other members of the local press, Levine opened up about making sure they keep fans posted, “We do get to read the stuff sent to us.” And this was even before social networking made the world a lot smaller.
The “Misery” singer also shared to Filipino scribes that touring has its downside but the rewards of live performances eclipse the negative.
“We do get sagged [touring on a regular basis] but we’re blessed and no band would say no to what we are experiencing now. The people keep [our performance] fresh,” Levine said in a brief media huddle prior to their first Manila show.
He stressed, “They (fans) are the ones that make it happen. It also helps when we travel and see different kinds of people and experience parts of their culture.”
The band behind hits “This Love,” “Won’t Go Home Without You,” “Wake Up Call,” “She Will Be Loved,” “Harder To Breathe” and current smash “Misery” will perform May 23 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City for their “The Hands All Over Tour.”
