Philippine Navy operatives rescued on Good Friday last week a Singaporean and an American aboard a yacht off Sofronio Española town in Palawan province.
The Philippine Navy said Sunday its Naval Forces West located the two foreigners' yacht at about 5:40 a.m.
"The rescued foreign nationals were identified as Ruben Staver, an American, with passport number 1920966843; and Foo Hay Chim, a Singaporean, with passport number S130402313. The yacht, however, was found aground and half submerged off Aracefi Island," the Navy said in a news release posted on its website.
It said the Navy ship BRP Juan Magluyan (PG392) proceeded to the site after receiving a request for assistance from the Coast Guard in Palawan at 11:00 p.m. Thursday.
At the time, the yacht "Fly Ruben Fly" was reported to be in distress and may sink because of strong waves some five nautical miles northeast off Scott Point, Sofronio Española, Palawan.
The Navy said the PG392 sighted the yacht in distress at about 700 yards east off Arrecefi Island.
It said the two foreigners were then turned over to the Coast Guard Detachment of Narra, Palawan.
