LONDON, United Kingdom - Tourists are coming in by the thousands in London as the royal wedding day nears.
It is expected that 1.5 million foreign visitors will be in London at the day of the wedding on April 29.
This is more than double the number of foreign visitors who personally witnessed the wedding of the groom's parents, Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, almost 30 years ago.
Many UK-based Filipinos have already filed their leaves in advance, just to make sure they can watch the wedding ceremony uninterrupted.
A native of Bulacan, Filipino tourist Lorina Rodriguez. has been in London since April 4.
She timed her vacation to the royal wedding so she can have that rare occasion to see the royal carriage bearing the most sought-after couple in the world today.
The route for the royal carriage will start in Westminster Abbey, will pass by the stretch of Whitehall where all government offices are located, and will end at Buckingham Palace.
Kate's popularity
Meanwhile, in a recent CBS News poll conducted by YouGov in the UK, Kate Middleton enjoys a relatively high popularity level at 66 %, the same level with Lady Diana Spencer back in the day.
With 2,500 respondents, Prince William got the highest popularity nod among British royal members with 81%, and Queen Elizabeth II at 80%.
In a separate online survey posted in the dating website beautifulpeople.com, Middleton also emerged as the 3rd most beautiful royal bride, nosing out Diana, who is on 4th spot.
The website poll, participated in by 127,000 respondents, revealed that the most beautiful royal bride ever remains the late Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco, followed closely by Queen Rania of Jordan.
With the poor economic conditions now plaguing the UK, many Britons believe the royal wedding serve as a temporary relief.
With just 4 days away, the Clarence House released some names of VIPs invited to the wedding.
Among those invited were singer Elton John, a personal friend of Prince William, celebrity couple David and Victoria Beckham, "Mr Bean" actor Rowan Atkinson, and former Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major.
