GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines – Former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada, one of more than 700 guests who attended the birthday party of Manny Pacquiao's mother on Sunday, gave the birthday celebrant another Hermès item: a silk scarf.
When asked by ABS-CBN's Jorge Cariño what his birthday gift was for Dionisia Pacquiao, the former President said: "Hermès din, pero scarf lang."
The prices of Hermès scarves range from $300 to $800 or around P13,500 to P36,000.
Estrada and Dionisia both starred in the 2009 comedy film “Ang Tanging Pamilya.”
Dionisia, who shed tears of joy after her son and daughter-in-law Jinkee gave her a P1-million Birkin bag by Hermès, celebrated her 62nd birthday in Barangay Tambler, General Santos City.
Estrada arrived at the party a few minutes after the program started and was welcomed by Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson, much to the surprise of the other guests.
Singson and Estrada also shared a long conversation.
Singson was a key player in the 2000 impeachment trial that led to Estrada's ouster from the presidency.
“Okay na naman kasi kami. Matagal na. Okay na,” Estrada said.
Estrada left the party past 10 p.m. together with Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao then left for Manila on Monday aboard Singson’s private Dornier 328 jet.
Pacquiao is expected to join deliberations on the controversial Reproductive Health (RH) Bill this week, where he is expected to voice his opposition against the bill.
