Amid cloudy skies, President Benigno Aquino III arrived at the Quirino Grandstand Sunday afternoon for the Independence Day parade, the first under his administration.
Aquino received full honors shortly after he arrived at about 4:14 p.m., radio dzBB's Cecilia Villarosa reported.
Present at the venue were Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim and Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff Gen. Eduardo Oban Jr.
Security was tight at the parade grounds, with media representatives restricted to certain areas of the grandstand area.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) earlier forecast good weather for Sunday, but with possible isolated rains in the afternoon.
