MANILA, Philippines -- Bishop Joel Baylon will celebrate a “misa mayor” (high mass) at 10:45 this morning at the St. Anthony de Padua Shrine in Sampaloc, Manila, in celebration of the feast of St. Anthony (San Antonio) de Padua, the patron saint of the poor and of lost things.
Hourly masses starting at 5:45 a.m. until 8 p.m. will also celebrated, while a solemn procession is scheduled at 5 p.m. At the St. Anthony de Padua Parish at the corner of Singalong and San Andres Street in Manila, a high mass in his honor will be celebrated by Bishop Teodoro Bacani at 6 p.m.
Commemorative rites in honor of St. Anthony will also be held in many parts of the country, such as in Masbate City, where the “Pagdayao” Festival will be held, while in Iriga City, the “Pintakasi” Festival will be celebrated. Festivities will also be held in Pila, Laguna; San Jose, Antique; and Sikatuna, Bohol. (Christina Hermoso)
