Quezon City traffic rerouted for SONA

MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang has announced that classes and work in government offices will not be suspended on Monday, July 25.

A traffic rerouting scheme along thoroughfares leading to Batasang Pambansa Complex will be implemented on Monday, July 25, in line with the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Benigno Aquino III.

According to Police Superintendent Arnold Casingal Santiago of Quezon City Police District’s traffic enforcement unit, as early as 12:01 a.m. of July 25, north-bound and south-bound lanes of Commonwealth Avenue from Quezon Memorial Circle/Philcoa to Fairview will be cleared and illegally parked vehicles will be towed.

Only the 2 left-most lanes of Commonwealth Avenue north-bound will be opened to traffic as container vans and concrete barriers will be established at the St. Peter Parish and Convergys Commonwealth.

By 5 a.m., rerouting will start from the U-turn slot in front of Metro Disco passing south-bound up to San Simon U-turn slot.

Batasan Road (formerly known as IBP Road) will be declared one-way traffic by 6 a.m.

The road will cleared for vehicles coming from Commonwealth, Filinvest 1, Sinagtala, San Mateo Road, Filinvest 2 on their way to the House of Representatives Building Complex, Fairview and Commonwealth Avenue.

Opposite direction leading to Sandiganbayan underpass and Commonwealth Avenue will be cleared for the exclusive use of vehicles coming from the House of Representatives Building Complex until the SONA is concluded.

Vehicles of very important persons (VIPs) with authorized car passes and members of Congress coming from San Mateo will be allowed to turn left going to the Batasang Pambansa Complex.
