(Updated 8:03 p.m.) The Department of Education (DepEd) has suspended pre-school to high school classes in the National Capital Region and Central Luzon on Wednesday due to the expected heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Juaning.
DepEd-NCR director Elena Ruiz made the announcement on GMA News' "24 Oras" Tuesday night. The suspension in Central Luzon was announced over DepEd's Twitter account.
As of 7 p.m. Tuesday, NCR and 17 other areas were under Signal No. 2.

As of 4 p.m., Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Juaning was located at 50 km northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte, packing maximum winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
