A 50-year-old Filipina maid now faces a court in the United Arab Emirates for allegedly trying to poison her 21-year-old ward with special needs, a Middle East news site reported Saturday.
The Ras Al Khaimah criminal court showed the Filipina maid had worked with her ward’s family for seven years, according to Gulf News. The Filipino was not identified in the report.
Court records also showed the family had two housemaids — a Filipina and an Ethiopian. The Ethiopian maid informed the victim’s father of the supposed plot, according to the report.
Gulf News quoted a court official as saying the Ethiopian maid claimed the Filipina maid allegedly attempted to kill the 21-year-old man by putting poison in his food.
Upon learning of this, the father informed the police, who promptly arrested the maid, the report said.
An initial examination of the food served to the 21-year-old showed it contained some type of drugs which could lead to heart failure, the Gulf News report said.
