MANILA, Philippines -- The city government of Taguig has lined up a series of activities designed to make the observance of the Taguig River Festival as meaningful as ever.
The 10-day celebration honors Barangay Sta. Ana’s patron saint, St. Anne, and is considered as Taguig’s most historic and important festival.
Previously referred to as “Banak Festival,” the Taguig River Festival begins each year on July 17 and culminates on St. Anne’s Feast Day on July 26.
“The Taguig River Festival places the city’s rich history, tradition and culture at the forefront for all our Metro Manila neighbors and foreign guests to see,” Mayor Lani Cayetano said.
Cayetano said the festival officially kicked off yesterday with the “Araw ng mga Nakakatanda” with some 500 senior citizens receiving gift packs as well as snacks.
On Wednesday, July 20, a motorcade takes the road from Barangay Sta. Ana to District 2, and in the evening a “Musikultura” show will feature a top local band.
