If things go as planned, TV host and Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad may be wearing a Rajo Laurel gown on her wedding early next year.
In an interview with GMA News’ “24 Oras," Soledad’s manager, Lolit Solis, revealed a few details about Soledad’s coming nuptials with Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo.
According to Solis, Soledad is thinking about tapping the talents of Laurel to design her wedding gown because she liked the Filipiniana he designed for her to wear during President Benigno Aquino III’s inauguration last year.
At that time, Soledad was dating the newly-elected bachelor president. After news broke about Soledad’s engagement with Romulo, Aquino reportedly responded with a smile.
Solis also revealed that Soledad herself did not expect to say “yes" to Romulo’s marriage proposal.
“Ngayon lang niya na-realize na totoo yung parang nahigkan ng kidlat," said Solis of Soledad’s reaction to Romulo’s proposal, which came less than a month after their relationship first became public.
Solis added that Romulo is well-liked by the Soledad family. Romulo has already spoken to Soledad’s mother and sister and is set to meet her father.
Despite her pending marriage, Solis said that Soledad has no plans of halting her political career. Solis added that Romulo wants his bride-to-be to continue pursuing what she wants.
Soledad, 31, rose to national prominence after actively campaigning for Aquino in the 2010 elections. They broke up a few months after he was elected President, and she has since gone on to co-host a daily primetime game show while immersing herself in local politics.
