MANILA, Philippines - As if her P250 million grossing film “No Other Woman” and Gold Record award for her album “AnneBisyosa” weren’t enough, Anne Curtis seemed bent to push the envelope by giving a show-stopping performance during the 2nd anniversary presentation of “Showtime” last Oct. 19.
In line with their week-long anniversary bash, Curtis impressed the “madlang people (audience)” and the hurados (judges) composed of celebrity cosmetic surgeons Vicki Belo and Manny Calayan, entrepreneur Joel Cruz, celebrity stylist Liz Uy, and director Cathy Garcia-Molina, as she flaunted her slew of “special skills.”
Anne started her performance with a daring pole dancing act followed by an air dancing exhibition. She capped it off by singing Adele’s “Someone Like You” while hoisted upside down. To amp her performance, Anne had singer Jed Madela holding the mic for her as she ran around the stage while singing the chart-topping ballad.
For the grand finale, the multi-hyphenated star belted her rendition of Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” before plunging into a tub full of water.
After her performance, Curtis revealed to the audience that she worked hard to complete her act, which she learned in four days.
“Grabe hindi niyo alam gaano kahirap matutong mag-pole-dancing, mag-air-dancing,” she said.
Prior to her act, Curtis had no less than ABS-CBN’s President Charo Santos-Concio do their show’s traditional “intro” (introduction) before she performed.
Following the show, Curtis posted on her Twitter account (@annecurtissmith), “Sobrang thank you to Mam Charo Santos for my intro!!! :) Happiness!!!”
Next she posted, “I just want to say thank you to @jedmadela (Jed Madela’s Twitter account) for being game to join my performance on ‘Showtime’!!! Super super thank you!!!!!!”
Then she sought her 1,759,140 followers’ thoughts by posting, “So what did you guys think of my performance? :)”
To which her fans replied with nothing but praises. Angelique Remillete (@ILoveANJELiK) posted, “@annecurtissmith super nagulat ako ate anne! haha. akalain mo yun, water effect! hehe. Loveit! Speechless ako :)”
While Zara Lardizabal (@lovelotzah) said, “@annecurtissmith it was great anne!u are really talented..two thumbs up :).”
Aside from Curtis, “Showtime” host Vhong Navarro also took on the stage with an interpretative dance number of Bruno Mars’ “Grenade.” While TV host Toni Gonzaga and former Hurado Ryan Bang played special parts in his production number.
"Showtime" hosts Billy Crawford and Karylle on Tuesday already put forward their moves. Today, Oct. 20, Vice Ganda and Kuya Kim (Atienza) impressed the "madlang people" with their own display of special talents. While defending champs, Jugs Jugueta and Teddy Corpuz are set to perform tomorrow.
