MANILA, Philippines -- Celebrity couple John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao remained vague in addressing their reported breakup during a joint interview aired on “The Buzz” Oct. 30.
Answering host Boy Abunda’s question if they are still a couple or not, John Lloyd answered, “Hindi... nandoon kami Tito Boy sa...
Shaina, on the other hand, said: “Siguro na-realize namin na if para bang gusto namin na maayos pa, or siguro gusto namin na tapusin na, kailangan i-work out namin ang personal issues namin. So, nandoon kami ngayon.”
“Masyadong malalim, masyadong personal.
The real problem
Given the speaking in riddles stance of the couple, we wonder where their relationship is headed.
John Lloyd explained: “Ako, especially ako, I speak for myself. Sabi ko naman, between the two of us, ako talaga yung maraming [kailangang] trabahuhin sa sarili ko. Kaya kami umabot dito. Kaya kami umabot sa ganitong sitwasyon. Maraming kailangang pag-isipan.”
Not that he is saying that the problem is in him, John Lloyd stressed: “Naniniwala ako na it takes two to tango.”
“Siguro yung problema ko, nakadagdag. Pero it’s about time na i-acknowledge namin na may problema kami as individuals. Mahirap, e. Hindi ka na maka-function as you’re supposed to function – as a partner, as a son, as an employee, as a friend. So, gusto kong maayos.”
The couple deemed it right to face the issue together so as not to mislead the public.
Good intentions, better individuals
John Lloyd is “kind of excited” for their future, together or not.
“Ang ganda ng intention namin. Ang ganda ng gusto naming ma-achieve as individuals. Ako, as I go along with my new journey, the things that I have to process, to be honest, kinakabahan ako.
He revealed, “Hindi ako sanay na mag-isa. Wala akong best friend. Ang best friend ko is my partner.”
Turning to Shaina, the actor said, “Alam ko magiging proud siya sa akin kapag naabot ko yun. Siguro siya ang pinaka... magiging pinaka-proud.”
“Sabi ko, ‘Siguro ako ang magigiging pinakamasayang tao kapag nakatayo ka na ulit,’” teary-eyed Shaina said of John Lloyd.
If there’s a thing he learned in loving someone, “Yung ano muna, yung sarili.
