MANILA, Philippines – One need only listen to Bianca Manalo’s giddy shrieks to know that her relationship with sweetheart John Prats is making her happy and that, in fact, it is growing stronger by the day.
The couple, whose love affair bloomed on the set of the now defunct Kapamilya noontime show “Happy Yipee Yehey,” got to know each other better even after show had folded, according to Manalo.
“Mas nagiging close kami. Mas na-appreciate namin ‘yung time together,” she revealed during her guest appearance on “KrisTV,” Tuesday.
Despite their individual hectic schedules, Manalo said they always find time to go out and watch a movie together.
She continued, “Mas nache-cherish namin ‘yung mga moments namin unlike ‘yung before na parang normal na lang na daily routine ‘yung lagi kaming magkasama. Ito iba talaga.”
Manalo said that through their relatively new relationship—they are yet to celebrate their first anniversary—she realized that love, first and foremost, ought to be about “quality” instead of “quantity,” a fact she learned when a previous relationship failed.
During the interview, Manalo, a former flight attendant, shared that prior to Prats, she had a relationship with a pilot that lasted for seven years. They called it quits due to their “differences”—things that made her realize that their relationship was, in fact, “hindi pwede” and “hindi pa ito ‘yon.”
Talking about her “quality” relationship with Prats, she recalled how the dancer-actor wooed her last year.
“Sobra ‘yung effort. Nakikita ko ang effort niya. Kasi after ng segment niya sa noontime, before pwede na siyang umuwi na pero ang ginagawa niya babalik siya sa studio para lang mag-‘hi,’” she recalled.
Still on the topic of wooing, Manalo admitted that she was initially impassive towards Prats despite all his efforts to win her heart.
“Nung una parang wala lang sa akin eh, pero dumating ‘yung time na parang hinahanap hanap ko narin siya,” she quipped.
When host Kris Aquino asked when their anniversary date was, Manalo giggled like a little girl and explained that Prats wants to keep their anniversary date a secret.
“‘Yun nalang daw ang one thing na sa amin lang, bilang alam naman na ng lahat ang pinagdaanan namin. Kung paano nagstart, ano ‘yung mga issues na lumabas. So gusto niya, ‘‘Yon naman atin lang,’” she reasoned.
Manalo continued that she’s very happy that she's getting along well with Prats’ family, and vice versa.
“Actually ‘yon ang nagustuhan ko sa kanila eh, ‘yung sobrang bonded [sila]. And kung meron man akong hahanaping lalaki, gusto ko ‘yung malapit sa pamilya and sobrang sakto kasi panganay pa siya so [sa kanya nagloo-] look up [ang] mga kapatid niya" Manalo declared.
She boasted how, like her, Prats is also very close to his parents.
“Sobra niyang lambing sa mommy niya. Nakakatuwa kasi ganon din ako kasi ako rin ang baby sa family namin. Ako ‘yung mas ma-hug sa daddy. Ako lang ‘yung nagsasabi ng I love you, ako ‘yung malambing so parehas kaming ganon,” Manalo enthused.
In parting, the 25-year-old actress shared that through her relationship with Prats, she was able to learn how to enjoy life even more and to appreciate the little blessings that she receives every single day.
