World Boxing Organization flyweight champion Brian Viloria and his opponent Omar Nino Romero both completed their weigh-ins on Saturday at the Discovery Suites, with the two familiar opponents each making the 112-pound limit.
That means Viloria will get his chance to finally defeat the Mexican on Sunday, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, in an event dubbed as "Island Assault IV."
"The Hawaiian Punch" is hoping third time will be the charm against Romero, having dropped the WBC World Light Flyweight title to Romero back in August 2006 via unanimous decision, and then failing in the rematch three months later. That last bout was later ruled a no decision, as Romero failed a post-fight drug test.
"Me and Omar, we've already had our history, so there's not going to be any secrets between us," Viloria said Wednesday at the fight's press conference. "The only difference is that I don't think I trained as hard for our last two fights as I've trained for this third fight, and I think that's going to show on Sunday."
Though it is Romero's first time to fight in the 112-pound division, the man with the "Giant Killer" monicker is ready to topple Viloria, saying during the same press con, "I made the adjustments and I'm ready for this fight.
"I'm sure Brian prepared himself good and is expecting a war as well. All I can tell you is that the best man is going to win," he added.
For the other co-featured bout, Rodel Mayol and Julio Cesar Miranda, who coincidentally have faced Romero and Viloria, respectively, both weighed in at 114 pounds.
