MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang on Thursday bared its latest appointments to a labor office and an anti-crime agency. Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said Carlos Oca Jr. was appointed administrator of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
Oca replaces POEA Administrator Jennifer Manalili.
Susan Ople, head of the Blas F. Ople Policy Center, expressed her willingness to work hand-in-hand with the new POEA chief.
“We hope the new POEA administrator will lead the fight against illegal recruitment, especially the reprocessing of job orders,” Ople said.
Ople added, “We are willing to work with him to obtain urgent reforms in overseas employment practices.”
Meanwhile, Undersecretary Valte said Gen. Sonny Gutierrez was also appointed as the new Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) executive director.
He will be replacing PDEA Chief Dionisio Santiago.
