MANILA, Philippines – Model-actress Sam Pinto is now at number one in this week’s partial and unofficial results of the 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2011 polls of the Philippine edition of FHM magazine.
Only last week, Pinto was lagging at third spot behind two of today’s most popular actresses: Marian Rivera, who was at number one (and for four consecutive weeks already); and last year's winner Angel Locsin, who was at number two.
Locsin was able to hold on tightly at second, but it was a steep tumble for Rivera, who has replaced Pinto at third.
But more than appearing in the same poll and battling each other for the top spot, Pinto and Rivera’s names had been linked before--albeit in a not-so-flattering light. Only a year ago, rumor spread that Rivera got jealous of Pinto after the latter supposedly received “special treatment” from the former’s beau, actor Dingdong Dantes, during a taping for "Party Pilipinas.”
Although the rumor died a quick death, observers believe that a rivalry of sorts between the two had been sparked and it had been quietly burning since.
The top 10 in the magazine’s list, as of May 20, 2011, are:
