Regine mulls sabbatical to increase chance of getting pregnant

MANILA, Philippines - Aware that some find it hard to conceive when they reach her age, singer Regine Velasquez is willing to take a year off from showbiz if it would mean a bigger chance for her to have her baby bump.

Admitting to such reports, Regine said she and Ogie plan to do so by March.

That’s our plan talaga, last year pa. When we were planning to get married, plinano na namin na I’m just gonna do this soap. Kasi dapat ika-can namin itong soap kaya lang hindi na namin naabot. Dapat hanggang March...eh, ngayon hindi ko na alam kung hanggang March,” she said on "Showbiz Central," Jan 26.

The diva is decided to just finish the soap with Dingdong Dantes then “I’ll rest."

The only reason she dillydallies on this resolve is because her sisters are trying to convince her to have a concert because she celebrates her 25th year in the business this year.

I’m thinking about it [the concert]. Baka mangyari ‘yon around April or May. And then after
that I will definitely rest
.”

Acknowledging that many people now want to see them have a baby after they've tied the knot, Regine, however, refuses to get pressured.

"Mahirap eh.......mas lalong hindi dadating. So we’ll just pray about it,” she said.

Regine is not ruling out resorting to science if she still fails to get pregnant the natural way.

“I’m open naman to what kind of ano, whatever....modern ano...whatever kasi that’s reality...If you really want (to get pregnant), we have to resort to that.”

However she gets pregnant, Regine is already preparing herself physically and emotionally for motherhood.

“Totoo na na-e-enjoy ko to be at home and to take care of my husband..medyo enjoy ko talaga ‘yon. At the same time kasi sanay akong nagtatrabaho ako. Bata pa ako nagtatrabaho na ako. I’m trying to prepare myself...

“Sina-psyche ko ang sarili ko emotionally, physically para sanay ako na hindi ako gagalaw kasi mahirap ‘yon, eh. That’s why I’m gonna try and slow down a little bit.”

And she and Ogie do not get blessed with a bundle of joy? It's okay, she said.

“Natagpuan ko ‘yung taong mamahalin ko...best friend ko pa. So okay na ako doon. Tutal mukha naman siyang baby,” Regine joked.

The singer is fast getting accustomed to married life. She admits that she finds it hard to sleep nowadays whenever Ogie is not beside her.

“Yun talaga ‘yung hirap na hirap ako talaga. Tapos siya rin naman tawag nang tawag. Uwi ka na,” she said, referring to an instance when Ogie was in Cebu for the Sinulog Festival.

She is amused that people always inquire about Ogie with her whenever she’s out.

“So, feeling ko bag siya. Alam mo ‘yon? 'Si Ogie nasaan?' 'Eto, o, wallet?' Magdadala na nga ako ng manikang Ogie, eh,” she said in jest.

Regine added: “Wala nakakatuwa naman. Pag lumalabas ako kasi pakalat-kalat ako lately, nasa mall lagi...ang dami pa ring nag-aano...’yung best wishes....Nakakataba talaga ng puso. Ang dami apparently ang nakapanood noong wedding. Tuwang-tuwa daw sila tapos naiyak daw sila. I’m very happy naman.”

Regine feels bad whenever she's not able to cook for Ogie.

“Pag nagte-taping ako lagi kong sinasabi sa kanya na pasensiya muna coz I’m not gonna be abnle to cook for you.......Eh, nakakaawa ‘yun kasi bumibili ‘yun ng food niya. Pero naiintindihan naman niya.”

Asked what has changed in their relationship now that they're married, Regine said that she loves him now more than before.

"If that’s even possible---don’t know why. Bakit parang mas in love pa ako?” she mused aloud.

Did Ogie change?

“He’s the same. He’s sweet, he’s really mabait."

Regine said she's not yet used to signing her name now that she's an Alcasid. She calims to be unperturbed that she gained a few pounds since getting wed.

"Care ko! Normally pagka tumataba ako nade-depress ako...

"Pero parang ngayon, tawang-tawa ako. Ano ba, ano ba ang nangyayari sa akin?”
