MANILA, Philippines - Faced with political upheavals and a natural disaster abroad affecting thousands of Filipinos, newly installed Foreign Affairs acting Secretary Albert del Rosario finds his position "very, very challenging."
During his first press conference on Friday afternoon, Del Rosario said he's been busy since the first hour he stepped into his office at around 8 a.m., trying to be in full control of the situation of Filipinos in Libya.
"I haven't stood up from the conference table," he said. "It's difficult because Libya is so far away."
Del Rosario said he plans to use his experience as a businessman to improve the country's diplomatic relations, economically speaking.
He said one of his goals is to improve bilateral free trade agreements with various countries.
