For a non-techie, wo-mom on-the-go, my requirements for a mobile phone are very simple:
It has to be light, easy to navigate, budget-friendly and with fast connectivity. Any nice feature on top of these, I’d consider as bonuses.
Nokia C5-03 fits my bill.
It’s very light at 93g, making it one of the lightest touch smartphones in the market today.
It’s affordable. Even as the design is borrowed from its Symbian3 lookalike, the C6-01, the C5 is priced much lower.
It’s user friendly. Even non-techies will have a breeze using this smartphone as it doesn’t come with complicated operations.
The 3.2” 16M-color TFT LCD resistive touchscreen of 640x360 pixel resolution is just right for me. The 5 megapixel fixed-focus camera and VGA video@ 15fps recording is more than enough.
Other exciting features of the C5 that I enjoy:
• Symbian S60 OS
• 600 MHz ARM 11 CPU and 128MB RAM
• Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g; UPnP
• GPS receiver with A-GPS support and free lifetime voice-guided navigation; free city guides and traffic information
• Digital compass
No more getting lost with C5 since you can download all the maps you need for free. And you don’t need a data connection for Ovi Maps to work.
The Nokia C5-03 allows for easy email set-up – either an existing webmail or POP3 provider through Nokia messaging. For business users, there’s also the option of Mail for Exchange. If that isn’t enough, you’ll also find a quick setup wizard for Ovi Mail for users either new to email or who want a different account for their mobile messaging. There’s also access to Ovi Music and the Ovi Store so you can fill your device with fresh content on a daily basis.
As a form of entertainment, there's gaming. On the Ovi Store, you can choose from a number of games and download them directly on the phones. From action games to silly games, from adventure games to sports, and from puzzle games to arcade games, there are so many to choose from. With the Nokia C5-03, communication and entertainment has never been this easy.
The Nokia C5-03 puts compactness over screen size. Nothing fancy about this phone which is, most probably targeted to the younger generation, with its cool color combis (graphite black, lime green, petrol blue and aluminum grey) but good enough for users with conservative tastes.
