Pomoy Marcelino’s got counterpart in 'Thailand’s Got Talent' (video inside)

MANILA, Philippines – It seems that “Pilipinas Got Talent” contestant Marcelito Pomoy isn’t the only one blessed with dual voices. “Thailand’s Got Talent” also has one such contestant – Bell Nuntita.

Nuntita is a transgender who wowed the “TGT” audience and surprised everyone when he sang in a female voice then switched to male voice as the song progressed. For this, he was dubbed as the Next Susan Boyle.

Pomoy, on the other hand, earned a standing ovation when he sang “Narito Ako” using female voice akin to that of Regine Velasquez. He was egged on by “PGT” judges Ai Ai de las Alas and Kris Aquino to try another song and he sang “Sana Maulit Muli.” The audience roared with applause when Pomoy obliged to another encore number--again, Regine and Ogie Alcasid’s duet “Hanggang Ngayon,” which he interpreted using female and male voices.

“Marcelito, na-achive mo ang something spectacular. Ibang-iba ang expectations namin. Namangha kaming lahat,” Aquino commented.

“Wala, patay na. Tapos na ang contest!” delas Alas wailed, to which Aquino said, “Sobrang galing!”

“Eto na ‘ko. Eto na ang bet ko,” Luis Manzano, one of the hosts, said.

Pomoy’s parallelism to Nuntita does not stop in both their abilities to sing in dual voices. They also have sad stories to tell.

Pomoy shared on “PGT” that he was adopted by a kind-hearted policeman as a baby. He finally met his father in his native Surigao last year. He went to Manila to look for his mom and other siblings and settled in Cavite. After his “PGT” performance, the aspiring singer was able to personally meet his biological mother just recently.

Meanwhile, in an online interview translated into English, Nuntita related how he suffered from people ridiculing him, including his very own father.

“They'd always made fun of me, called me 'fag,' 'drag queen,' but what could I possibly do? And my dad never accepted [me] for what I am. The worst, he once beat me badly. He tried to beat me until I quit being gay. I want to tell my dad that I love him, and that I made finally it now," Nuntita said.

While Pomoy is the second season contender of “PGT”, Nuntita is the second episode candidate in the inaugural reality-based talent show in Thailand.

Needless to say, Nuntita and Pomoy made it to the second round of the contest by their sheer talent in singing.
