MANILA, Philippines – They may have patched things up, but with good intentions still come ill-placed criticisms, it seems.
Sarah Geronimo, who initiated communication and eventual reconciliation with Cristine Reyes at the backstage of “ASAP Rocks” on March 20, now laments that people have this notion that her reaching out to her former nemesis is nothing more than a publicity stunt to promote her upcoming movie with Gerald Anderson, “Catch Me I’m in Love.” This she expressed to the media during the presscon for the movie held March 23.
She herself expressed surprise that she was able to do what she did. But she also clarified that her spontaneous act had nothing to with the movie promotions.
"Hindi natin talaga mapi-please ang lahat, e. Basta ako, ginawa ko kung ano ang nasa puso ko," she said, a resonating quote that was also bannered on PEP’s Scoopbox.
Noting that she didn’t want to talk about it further, Sarah also told the media, “Naikwento ko na po sa ‘The Buzz,’ okay na po ‘yun, tama na.”
At the presscon, Sarah was also asked why she did not approach Rayver Cruz instead, she replied, “Bakit ko lalapitan si Rayver? Dahil nga doon nagkagulo eh.”
Of course, people still remember how Cristine, Rayver’s current girlfriend, vented out her anger towards Sarah on Twitter when—during a rehearsal for “ASAP”—the latter approached Rayver and made a comment that did not sit well with Cristine. The rift blew out of proportion when the Twitterworld was suddenly awash with a series of angry tweets from Cristine, posted on Dec. 12, 2010, about a “drama princess” whom she also accused of being “bitter” and “a backstabber with a super goody goody image and super sweet smile!”
By February this year, Sarah opened up about her love life, finally admitting her failed romance with Rayver in the March issue of Yes magazine. This practically cleared the matter once and for all how this whole love triangle played out.
On March 20, Sarah appeared on “The Buzz” not just to happily admit having made peace with Cristine, but also to give her side of the whole messy story.
“‘Yung biro ko sa stage na ‘yon during rehearsal, sine-set ko lang ‘yung mood na, ‘Okay na tayo, Ray, ha.’ At saka ‘yung joke ko na ‘yon, for John [Prats] din ‘yun at Rayver. Kasi totoo naman ‘yun na ‘yung mga magagaling sumayaw, lapitin talaga ng mga magaganda at seksing babae. ‘Di ba po si Rachelle [Ann Go] sexy, si Cristine sexy… maganda… So ‘yun lang po, wala akong ibang ibig sabihin don. At ‘yun ang gustong gustong gusto kong ipaliwanag kay Cristine,” she shared at length.
Meanwhile, in an interview with ABS-CBN on March 23, Ara Mina—Cristine’s elder sister—shared her relief that the matter between her sister and Sarah has now been resolved. In fact, she expressed willingness to bridge a friendship between the two, saying, “Sana mag-dinner, naks! Sige ako mag-facilitate.” She also added, laughing, “Huwag na kasama si Rayver… Para girl bonding na muna.”
In the same report, Sarah was asked to comment on Ara’s idea. Although claiming she is indeed open to it, she nevertheless said, “Pero ‘wag nalang natin pilitin dahil I’m sure mangyayari ito sa tamang panahon.”
