MANILA, Philippines - Actress Beth Tamayo is not dead. This was confirmed by Dante Nico Garcia, a film writer and director known for world-acclaimed movie “Ploning.” Garcia spoke up following rumors that the actress was among three drug couriers recently executed in China.

In an interview with “The Buzz,” Sunday, April 10, Garcia said Tamayo is still very much alive and had been communicating with him via Blackberry messenger (BBM) for the last months.

According to Garcia, Tamayo, whom he met and worked with in "Ploning," is in the US and "having the time of her life."

He intimated that Tamayo simply laughed off rumors of her death. "'Di pa kaya ako nakakapunta ng China. Salamat sa mga nag-alala... Ayaw ko nang patulan ('yung balita)," he quoted her as saying.

Garcia shared that Tamayo is working in a private firm and is quite content spending her life away from the limelight. "She has a corporate job somewhere. Enjoy na enjoy siya. May sarili siyang buhay ngayon," Garcia told "The Buzz."

"Whenever she talks about it [her life now], alam mo 'yung saya. Kita mo 'yung saya," he added.

Rumors of Tamayo’s death exploded last week after several wags insinuated that she and executed drug courier Elizabeth Batain were the same person.

TV host Kris Aquino earlier refuted the rumors, saying that she has even seen Batain’s remains when she visited the latters’ wake.

Batain's face was never shown in the media, not even before or after her execution, March 30.
