At least 15 quakes were recorded around restive Taal Volcano in Batangas in the last 24 hours, state volcanologists said Tuesday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology also noted an increase in temperature in the Main Crater Lake's water from 30.1 to 31.8 degrees Celsius.
In its update, Phivolcs said Alert Level 2 remains over Taal Volcano with the interpretation that magma has been intruding towards the surface.
Phivolcs reminded the public the Main Crater, Daang Kastila Trail and Mt. Tabaro are strictly off-limits because sudden hazardous steam-driven explosions may occur and high concentrations of toxic gases may accumulate.
"Breathing air with high concentration of gases can be lethal to human, animals and even cause damage to vegetation," it said.
Also, it said the entire Volcano Island is a Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ), and permanent settlement in the island is strictly not recommended.
Mayon Volcano
Meanwhile in Albay, Phivolcs said four volcanic earthquakes were recorded around Mayon Volcano during the past 24 hours.
An Intensity II crater glow (can be seen by naked eye) was observed Monday night, it added in its update.
Phivolcs said Alert Level 1 remains over Mayon Volcano, and recommended that the public should not enter the 6-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) due to the continuing threat from sudden small explosions and rockfalls from the upper and middle slopes of the volcano.
Bulusan watch
On the other hand, Phivolcs said one volcanic earthquake was recorded during the past 24 hours around Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon province.
Alert Level 1 remains over Bulusan, with entry to the 4-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) still strictly prohibited, since the area is at risk to sudden steam and ash explosions, Phivolcs said in its update.
