MANILA, Philippines -- Air Supply, composed of guitarist and songwriter Russell Hitchcock and lead vocalist Graham Russell, arrives today in time for their concert at the University of Baguio gym. Thursday, the duo will perform at the Aliw Theater with Joey Abando’s Boyfriends providing the front act.

Filipino fans of Air Supply are certainly excited to be hearing once more from the duo their big hits like “All Out Of Love,” “Every Woman In The World,” “The One That You Love,” “Lost In Love,” “Here I am (Just When I Thought I Was Over You),” “Sweet Dreams,” “I’ll Never Get Enough,” “Now And Forever,” “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All,” “Even The Nights Are Better,” “Two Less Lonely People In The World,” “Stronger Than The Night,” among many others.

Danee Samonte of Steve O’Neal Productions, promoter of the Air Supply concerts in Manila, said their last show, on May 13, will be Toledo City in Cebu. “Air Supply Tour 2011” is sponsored by Zest Air, Hyatt Hotel, Business Mirror, Star TV, Star World, MS for Men, Hard Rock CafĂ© and RJ 100.3, official concert station.

The group was formed in 1975 and a little later they came out with their first single, “Love And Other Bruises,” the year after their formation. It reached No. 6 on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Charts. This maiden success of the duo was followed by the release of their self-titled debut album (produced by Peter Dawkins of Spectrum) which achieved Gold in Australia and reached No. 17 on the Kent Music Report Albums Chart. The group was then composed of Hitchcock, Russell, drummer Jeff Browne, guitarist McEntee and keyboardist and arranger Adrian Scott.

Their album, “The One That You Love,” released in 1981, went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also featured two other Top 10 hits, “Here I Am...” and “Sweet Dreams.” The fourth single, “I’ll Never Get Enough” was released in Japan and achieved Top 10 status. In 1982, their next album “Now And Forever,” enhanced the group’s popularity with the Top 20 hits “Even The Nights Are Better” and two Top 40 singles “Young Love” and “Two Less Lonely People In The World.” In 1983, they released their “Greatest Hits” album with a new single, “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All,” which went to be one of their biggest hits, spending three weeks at No. 2 and the album eventually sold five million copies. In 1984, their song “I Can Wait Forever” was included in a scene in the blockbuster movie “Ghostbusters.”

In 1985, Air Supply released their first live video, “Air Supply in Hawaii.” In 1987, they recorded a Christmas album before taking a break from studio recordings. The duo entered the recording studio once more in 1989 to record “The Earth Is,” which was released in 1991 by Gian Records under Warner Bros. Records. The album spawned the hit single “Without You.”

The Air Supply went on to record albums almost every year until 2010 when they released “Mumbo Jumbo” featuring 14 new tracks. In 2005, they performed in Havana, Cuba, one of the first foreign bands to perform in that country. They were supposed to do two shows but because of Hurricane Dennis that hit the country, they were able to do only the first, which was attended by 175,000 people.

In 2008, Air Supply was named as the No. 83 “Best Musical Act of All Time” in the Billboard Hot 100 50th year anniversary edition.
