Everything going well for Bela Padilla

MANILA. Philippines — After a slow start with her former mother network and a controversial stint as Yumi Ramirez in the series “Endless Love,” Bela Padilla now enjoys a career of triumphs and promises.

In a relatively short time, she starred in the 21st century version of "Machete" opposite the chiselled Aljur Abrenica. Then she was short listed by the prestigious YES Magazine as one of the "new names" deserving for inclusion in its "Next Big Thing" category.

Even the FHM magazine saw her rise to stardom the instant cue to include her to the nominees for its 100 sexiest.

These developments surely prompted Yahoo Southeast Asia reporter Chuck Smith to interview mainstream TV's new 'belle of the ball' about herself and the success she currently enjoys. The interview gave Bela the distinction of being one of the very few Filipinos interviewed by the most searched site on yahoo engine.

A shy teen with no clear vision of what she would do in showbiz, Bela found her jump to the Kapuso network an enlightening experience. She said, "When I transferred to GMA, my perspective changed so much. I saw the possibilities and it made me love my work so much."

In the Yahoo interview titled "Bela Padilla reveals her true self," the slim, stunningly beautiful niece of "Bad Boy" Robin Padilla talks with ease about her routines, roots, and the turnaround that brought positive vibes into her career.

She shared, "I'm thankful for people who were saying negative things about me and who eventually turned around and started appreciating my acting. Now I have clearer goals like wanting to do indie films and going to film festivals abroad."

Her motto on and off cam: "I want to make a lot of people happy."

Elaborating on her distinctive acting style, the 19-year old girl who loves reading and still buys bargain stuff in a crowded bookstore, explained, "I try to inject a little of me when portraying a particular role. With that real emotions come out and people get to feel more who I am."

Bela added that when she was younger, she never had a boyfriend. She was just "one of the boys" and she wanted to be a journalist. Fame came and she is now a "dream girl," more so, a worthy subject for journalists.
