MANILA, Philippines - The wife of boxing icon and anti-Reproductive Health Bill advocate Manny Pacquiao admitted to using contraceptive pills, but claimed she immediately stopped when he learned of it.
In a text message to ABS-CBN News correspondent Dyan Castillejo, Jinkee Pacquiao said: “Dyan my comment bout the issue bout that pill is, dat was long time ago and my husband didn't know bout it. And dat time di pa namin issue ang RH bill.”
She said Pacquiao later found out she was using the pill, which to the Catholic Church is an abortifacient.
She said she immediately stopped taking the pills.
Her earlier comments triggered quite a stir, with some calling Pacquiao a hypocrite for his anti-RH Bill stance.
In an article written by cosmetologist Vicki Belo for The Philippine Star, Jinkee was quoted as saying: “After Queenie, sabi ko kay Manny, tama na ang apat... Hindi pa ako nagpa-tali, pero nagpi-pills ako (ngayon).”'
Jinkee told Castillejo she is fully supporting his husband’s opinion on the controversial issue.
She further said: “I am definitely ANTI RH BILL, I will stand by my husband's conviction, kung ano ung opinion niya ganun din ako.. thank you...”
