MANILA, Philippines – Although he got violent when he visited the house of his ex-girlfriend Iwa Moto last May 22, Mickey Ablan admitted he only wanted to see her out of love and longing.
Mickey, who finally opened up on his controversial quarrel with Iwa because he felt it’s already taking a toll on her and her career, told PEP in a recent interview, “Wala akong balak na takutin or everything. Ang akin lang, na-miss ko lang si Iwa. Out of love ‘yun. ‘Yun lang na instance na ginawa ko 'yun.”
Recall that Ablan barged in on Iwa on Sunday morning---allegedly venting his emotions on her door and window when he didn’t find her there.
The martial arts fighter denied that he threatened to reveal their supposed marriage certificate if Iwa didn’t show up that day. He explained that he wouldn’t do such a thing because there is no certificate to show, to begin with---contrary to long-running rumors that they’ve already tied the knot.
"Kung puwede lang, married na sana kami,” he quipped.
He added that he loves Iwa so much he could only wish the best for her.
"Ang wini-wish ko para sa kanya, maging maayos siya, maging mabuti, maging maganda ang work niya. Maging okay siya as a person, mag-grow siya. So, hindi ako para mag-threat. Siguro minsan pag nagselos ako. Pero hindi naman ‘yung parang high school,” Mickey related.
He also took the blame for his row with his ex-sweetheart, the height of which was that “GMA-7 parking lot” incident, and later snowballed with reports of Iwa’s hospitalization and malicious rumors that the actress purportedly tried to commit suicide.
"Ang nangyari kasi sa kanya (Iwa), ‘yung mga fault ko, siya ‘yung nadya-judge na mali… Siya [‘yung] kawawa sa nangyayari sa amin. Ako, hindi naman ako artista, so wala naman ako dapat na ipagtanggol ko sarili ko…” said Mickey.
He apologized to those who got inadvertently dragged into the whole ruckus. Among those he cited were Iwa’s house mate, Justine Ferrer, who filed a police blotter against him for storming Iwa’s house; Iwa’s home network, GMA-7, and her handler, Cris Ojeda, whom he heard was rushed to the hospital because of a rise in blood pressure (due to what happened).
Mickey is also ready to face whatever charges that Justine might slap him. He said he is sorry to his and Iwa’s respective families, and acknowledged that he also had his share of mistakes.
Despite everything that has happened, Mickey said he’s still trying his best to win Iwa back. He confirmed Iwa’s earlier statement that they broke up last December. But he added that they rekindled their romance last April only to split again due to a fight they had. Curiously, however, Iwa was quoted by PEP in a recent interview that no reconciliation took place between the two of them.
Whatever may become of their relationship is up to Iwa, Mickey said. And if she agrees for a second chance, "Gusto ko na siyang pakasalan. Yayain ko na siyang pakasal.”
But if it goes the other way around, and Iwa finds somebody else, Mickey said he’d be happy for her.
His one wish for her, though, is that, “Sana makahanap siya ng lalaki ng mas higit sa akin."
