Kuwait City - Kuwait played like a fluid team all throughout, handing the Philippine Azkals a 2-0 spanking in a highly physical first leg of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers held at the Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadion in Kuwait.
Kuwaitis Yousef Al Sulaiman, Mesaed Al Enezi and Fahad AL EBRAHIM were responsible for their team’s goals. Yousef Al Sulaiman (20) made Kuwait’s first goal with 16:55 in the first half while Mesaed Al Enezi (13) and Fahad AL EBRAHIM (11) made one goal each in the second half.
Mesaed Al Enezi scored at the 69:30 mark in what seemed to be a “weird goal” which seemed to show Al Enezi push the ball using his hands.
Various angles of the replay however could not verify how the ball went in the Azkal’s goal after a wild game sequence.
The PHL Azkals had their chances to make goals courtesy of Phil Younghusband and Angel Guirado but the defense of the Kuwait team was too much to penetrate.
The second leg will shift to the Philippines home turf on July 28, 2011 (Thursday) at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
