MANILA, Philippines – Marcelito Pomoy’s success at the season 2 of “Pilipinas Got Talent” finals has paved the way for him to reunite his family.

Aniceta Pomoy, the “PGT” champion’s mom echoed the same feeling.

Recalling his son's early struggles as a singer, Pomoy's father shared, “Doon sa amin ang ginawa no’n ‘pag nakakanta ‘yun, bumaba ‘yung mga estudyante... may baso lalagyan ng singko, punung-puno ‘yon. Walang ano ‘yon, hanggang maghapon.”

As a child, Pomoy was separated from his parents---his mom left him when he was young and his father had been incarcerated, thus landing him under the care of a foster parent. His two other siblings were also raised by other foster parents.

When he grew older, Marcelito did odd jobs to tide him over. He sold ice cream and ballot, and worked in a construction company and poultry farm.

Today, Pomoy considers his winning on the “PGT” finals as a gift.

Ito na siguro ‘yon,” he said.

Before the finals, Marcelito was praying that “sana ito ‘yung way na magkasama man lang (kaming magkakapamilya).

The singer, who is gifted with dual voices, intends to help his family with his cash prize.

Jovit Baldovino, “PGT” season 1 grand champion, is truly happy about Marcelito’s win.
