Mayweather 'ready to fight' Pacquiao in May 2012

World boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is planning to fight Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao in May next year, a report said.

An article on ESPN.com quoted Mayweather's adviser Leonard Ellerbe as saying the planned fight will take place on May 5, 2012.

Mayweather's camp said the undefeated American boxer vowed to be active in the sport again after defeating Victor Ortiz last September.
Past negotiations for a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight had failed over alleged doping issue.
