MANILA, Philippines – The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced the final list of entries to the 37th edition Metro Manila Film Festival – Philippines (MMFF-P).
The announcement came after two previous official entries were pulled out from the festivities by their respective producers some weeks ago.
Regal Films matriarch and producer Lily Monteverde decided to pull “Hototay” out of the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival’s entries supposedly due to its star Nora Aunor’s "health problems."
However, Monteverde clarified there were other factors that made her come to the decision.
“Talagang na-delay kasi ayaw namin ura-urada. Baka masira ang project,” she said in previous reports.
Regal’s other entry, “Shake Rattle & Roll 13 (Lunod, Tamawo, Parola)” is still part of the festival.
Robin Padilla, on the other hand said, he decided to pull his entry “Mr. Wong” out of the festival to give way to his friend, Governor ER Ejercito, whose “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salong Story” is now part of the official list of entries.
Padilla denied that he elected to call off the movie because it is not yet "ready."
“Nagkaroon na ng maraming drama masyado,” he said previously. “Kami ay handa. Hindi ako ipinanganak na hindi handa sa mundong ito. Kulungan nga eh hindi ko inatrasan eh. Wala pa sigurong tao na makakapag-atras sa akin. Ako po ay hindi umatras, ako po ay nagbigay."
The 37th Metro Manila Film Festival will run from Dec. 25, 2011 to Jan. 7, 2012.
