Jay-R: Kris, proud to be father of Katrina's baby

MANILA, Philippines – R&B singer Jay-R has belied nasty rumors that his friend, Kris Lawrence, has misgivings over fathering girlfriend Katrina Halili’s unborn kid.

According to a report by PEP on March 28, this piece of gossip was formed due to Kris’ continued silence over the pregnancy news, which was finally confirmed by Katrina in a taped interview with “Startalk TX” aired last Saturday.

“Hindi. Intriga lang ‘yun! Proud na proud si Kris! Just because hindi siya nagpapa-interview, ibig sabihin no’n, e, hindi na proud,” Jay-R told PEP.

On said TV interview, Katrina shared that her boyfriend is happy about her pregnancy but that they aren’t planning to tie the knot yet. In a separate PEP report, also on Saturday, Kris’ publicist issued a statement saying that the couple is "not getting married anytime soon” and that “he will support her [Katrina] and the baby through the full term.”

Jay-R said, “Siyempre ‘pag showbiz, siyempre nae-exploit ‘yung mga private lives ng mga tao. You know minsan, gusto rin naming maging private.”

He believes that Kris would speak up about the matter at the right time.

More, the R&B performer offered his congratulations to his friend, exclaiming that he’s “so happy for him.”

“Alam ko 'yung magiging anak nila is gonna become very talented and very smart and successful 'tulad niya [Kris] at ni Katrina rin. So good luck!” he said, adding, “Kung kailangan niya [Kris] ang tulong ko, for anything, nandito lang ako. So, huwag siyang mag-hestitate to call me.”

Meanwhile, Jay-R dodged the question about the news of his breakup with girlfriend of close to three years, beauty queen Krista Kleiner. While the two have yet to address the issue directly to the media, Krista has already posted tweets about it in the last few days. This included a reply to a follower on Sunday – who asked if she’s having problems with her relationship – which read, “no...we're not together anymore that's all.”

“No comment na lang ako do’n!” was Jay-R’s stand on the same report.

Asked if they’re currently going through tough times, the singer replied, “You know, ang mga relationships naman, laging may ups and downs, ‘di ba? So, pangit din naman kung magsasalita ako ng nangyari na ganito…

“Ang masasabi ko na lang, you know, it’s not all happy times. You just have to work through it lang talaga,” he was quoted as saying.

Jay-R also denied looking for someone else to date and belied involvement of a “third party” to their problem, explaining, “I just have to figure myself out din muna… And just, a… soul searching.”
