LRTA to fete moms on Sunday with treats

Mothers will get treats on Sunday when they take the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Lines 1 and 2 in Metro Manila, a radio report said Saturday.

A report on dzBB radio said the LRTA has prepared free roses and other treats for mothers at some of its stations on Mother’s Day.

Some 200 lucky mothers may even get flowers during the Mother’s Day treat from 8 a.m. to noon at the LRT-1 Central and LRT-2 stations, the report said.

But LRTA spokesman Hernando Cabrera stressed there will be no free rides.

"Mamimigay po ng roses sa mga piling nanay na pasahero ng LRT bukas sa Cubao at Central Stations, pero wala pong libreng sakay," he said on his Twitter account.

Meanwhile, Malacañang feted mothers on the eve of Mother’s Day, with Presidential Communications and Operations Office head Herminio Coloma Jr. lauding Filipina mothers for their sacrifices.

“A mother’s work is never done. She works from morning until dawn. She spreads her love and keeps us warm. She is all of this and more. And she certainly deserves more than just flowers and gifts. But the ever understanding mother that she is, a grateful ‘thank you for everything’ would suffice. And a Happy Mother’s Day greeting would be just great!” Coloma said in a statement.
