MANILA, Philippines – It looks like international teen pop star Justin Bieber may have gotten too excited to sing before the Filipino crowds.
Based on the latest buzz online, Bieber reportedly greeted his audience “Hello, Manila!” instead of “Hello, Malaysia!” in his concert staged recently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“Justin Bieber staged a very successful jampacked concert in Stadium Merdeka Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last night April 21… But one funny ‘boo-boo’ happened when he showed up on stage and greeted his Malaysian fans ‘Hello Manila!’” wrote a blogger, who claimed to have a friend who watched the concert.
The purported boo-boo drew attention from fans and Twitter users alike, with some saying the 17-year-old star might have actually become keyed up to hold his actual concert in the Philippines.
The Canadian teen star will be performing this May 10 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds as part of "My World" 2011 Asian Tour.
“Justin Bieber Shouts " HELLO MANILA " instead of Hello Malaysia .. haha Maybe he's just so excited to come over here !! YAY,” tweeted ClichaeyeLuvJB.
“Sinabi ba talaga ni Justin sa Malaysia "Hello Manila"? excited much si Justin,” added JerielBeliebs.
Thanks to the supposed boo-boo, some gained knowledge about Bieber’s gig in the country.
“Me: Justin Bieber said "Hello Manila" instead of ‘Hello Malaysia’ in his concert in Malaysia Ate: AWWW! *touches heart* I wanna watch!:)),” tweeted karcellana.
“…now I'm excited for his concert!!!:))," added angeladelro.
Bieber also drew criticisms because of the incident.
“Justin Bieber greets Malaysians ‘Hello Manila!,’ wears a Barcelona jersey in Madrid. Justin Bieber, you need a map,” abygo said.
“Justin Bieber to his Malaysian fans: "HELLO MANILA!" Hahaha! I love him. He's like a martian,” tweeted juansuing.
For entertainment columnist Nitz Miralles, Bieber, a YouTube discovery-turned-overnight sensation, has nonetheless gained enough publicity for his upcoming gig in the country because of the supposed boo-boo.
“hopefully, hindi rin siya magkamali ng bati. But knowing his fans, wala silang keber kung magkamali man ito ng banggit ng bansa, basta ang importante ay napapanood nila itong nagpi-perform. Ang aga kayang na-sold out ang ticket sa concert!” said Miralles.
