Ondoy hero picked as torchbearer

MANILA, Philippines - For sacrificing his belongings to rescue a helpless elderly neighbor at the height of Typhoon Ondoy three years ago, Joven Mallo was nominated by the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) to join a cast of 8,000 torchbearers in a 70-day, 8,000-mile relay journey ending with the opening of the London Olympics on July 27.
