Heart decides to marry Daniel maybe this year, maybe next year, but never never

MANILA, Philippines — Is Heart Evangelista getting married this year?

This is the question in everyone’s mind after the 26-year-old actress said in a recent TV interview that she’d say “yes” immediately if her beau, Brazilian model turned actor Daniel Matsunaga, proposes to her this year.

This is the reason people now speculate that a marriage is under way in their seven-month-old relationship. The way Heart talked about their relationship, one could surmise they’re really so blissfully in love.

“I’ve already made my decision to say yes and marry Daniel. But we have to be realistic and practical. Marriage can wait because it needs a lot of planning and we both have to work harder in our careers,” said Heart.

She added that times are hard and that they should first be financially stable before plunging into marriage; hence, her being “married” to her career in order for her to earn and save up and not rely so much on her father who’s a successful and wealthy restaurateur.

“Right now I’m not into any business. But my dad’s studying what business I can do that’s fitted to my ability and lifestyle,” she said.

“I’m at peace with my life. Everything is good and it’s nice to experience this again after a long while,” Heart added.

Recall that before Daniel, the actress had a rocky relationship with Jericho Rosales. It ended because, as Heart puts it, they were both too young then.

Besides, she wanted things done her way, even if it meant going against her family.

“I did leave him. I was very young then and I felt that for the first time in my life I was fighting for someone. But it’s okay because I learned a lot. Kasi dati tatanga-tanga ako. Nabatukan ako nang malakas. But things turned out well, even my relationship with my family is better now,” Heart said.

Heart and Daniel maintain their relationship stress-free by not talking about their past.

She explained that including the past in their relationship could prove disastrous.

“It’s best this way that we start fresh. He knows who Jericho is but I know he doesn’t want to talk about him. I don’t also ask about his past girlfriends. Past is past,” she said.

On her career, Heart is still in prowl for a good movie project. She recently declined a role in the remake of “Temptation Island.” She said she couldn’t do it as the part required a half-nude scene.

“I don’t mind wearing a two-piece bikini but when I told my dad about it, he said that I shouldn’t do it. It’s okay because right now I’m neck-deep in work for ‘Dwarfina’ and I really feel tired after each taping day. So I guess movies can wait,” said Heart.

So what did Heart receive from Daniel as her birthday and Valentine’s Day gift?

“It felt like winning a jackpot after he gave me an open roundtrip ticket to Brazil.”

Heart, on the other hand, bought Daniel a sound system for his Nissan SUV.
