Prayers for Japan asked

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines — Governor Lilia Pineda has requested all government officials in Pampanga to enjoin their constituents to spend a minute of silence to pray for the victims of the great earthquake and tsunami in Japan last March 11.

“The Kapampangans are all extremely concerned and are praying to God to provide the victims and their families the courage and endurance – to support one another strongly. Please have courage, we are all praying for you,” the governor said in a statement.

The governor stressed that the Japanese government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has played a very important role in the full restoration, rehabilitation, and development of the province since the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991. (Mark Anthony N. Manuel)

Cavite employees allowances ok'd
TRECE MARTIRES CITY — Cavite Gov. Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla Jr. has approved the P15-million budget intended for the productivity and clothing allowance of provincial employees this year.

More than 2,700 employees are expected to receive the P2,000 productivity pay and P4,000 clothing allowance next week.

The twin allowance is a benefit of the employees, aside from the annual 13th month pay or bonus and P5,000 cash gift which are divided for the Christmas season and midyear.

The amount comes from the fund of the Office of the Governor. (Anthony Giron)

Sectors sign peace accord
BONTOC, Mountain Province — A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was entered into by sectoral groups for the creation of the Church, Military, and Police Advisory Group-Mountain Province (CMPAG-MP) whose collective vision is to promote, respect human dignity and achieve sustained peace and development in the province.

The agreement was also made to foster a harmonious relationship and cooperation among all religious, military and police organizations in the province. (Dexter A. See)

Health plans benefits kids
BONTOC, Mountain Province — A total of 5,774 day-care children (aged 3-4) have benefited from the tooth-brushing and hand-washing activities under the essential health care program initiated by the provincial government.

Under this program, the provincial government purchased toothbrushes, toothpastes and hand soaps which were distributed not only to day-care pupils but also to all elementary pupils both private and public schools in the province in order to teach them proper health management so that they will learn to observe cleanliness. Antipolo Earth Hour events set
ANTIPOLO CITY
— In its continuing commitment to protect the environment, the provincial government is strongly enjoining all local chief executives, heads of the academe, civic organizations and private sectors including church officials in the province to encourage the participation of the public in the observance of Earth Hour on March 26 at the capitol compound here.

In his Memorandum Order No. 2011-03, Rizal Gov. Casimiro “Jun” Ynares III sought the participation of various sectors in the province including church organizations to be present in the province-sponsored observance of the Earth Hour. (Nel B. Andrade)
