Alma Moreno on separation rumors: ‘Sorry ho… kami pa rin po’

MANILA, Philippines – With persistent rumors saying she has split up with her husband—the mayor of Islamic City of Marawi, Sultan Fahad Salic—showbiz veteran and current Parañaque District 1 councilor Alma Moreno appears on “The Buzz,” April 16, to set the record straight.

She also noted, “Kaya siguro nasasabing nilang hiwalay kami, dahil nasa Marawi City siya.

Explaining this set-up further, she added, “’Yun naman kasi ang pinagkasunduan namin eh.

This is actually not the only time a split-up rumor has hounded Moreno and Salic. Back in 2009, curiously less than a year since they married, a similar rumor already brewed. This was addressed and explained by Moreno then in pretty much a similar manner as she had the current rumors.

The couple married last March 21, 2009 at the Vistamar Resort in Cebu City. It was both Moreno's and Salic's second marriage.

Aside from the break-up gossip, Moreno also addressed her inactivity in show business.

Last March 10 ‘yon, ang election namin.”

Should she decide to resume acting in front of the camera, Moreno said she would prefer to do a soap.

“Kasi po ‘yun ang priority ko eh,” she said of her councilor duties. “Tapos ngayon po, nanay ako ngayon, kasi first time na nagkaroon ng babae na presidente sa Philippine Councilor’s League. So nanay ako ng mga konehal sa buong Pilipinas,” she said proudly.

Aside from her political responsibilities, Moreno is very busy with her one-year-old baby with Salic.

Moreno reiterated that she is very happy and thanked her co-councilors and other officers for their support. And then Abunda asked her this one question the host said he could not ask her in 2009 when he married Salic: “Nes, ikaw lang ba ang babae sa buhay ni Mayor Fahad, oo o hindi?”

Prior to Moreno’s appearance on “The Buzz,” her son Vandolph (with Comedy King, Dolphy) insisted in an interview on “Showbiz News Ngayon” as published on abs-cbnNEWS.com on April 15 that there is no truth to reports of Moreno and Salic splitting up.

“Okay naman sila kasi kung hiwalay sila, malalaman at malalaman ko,” he told the show.

Aside from her past relationship with Dolphy, Moreno was once the girlfriend of action star Rudy Fernandez (with whom she has a son, actor Mark Anthony Fernandez); and was once married to Joey Marquez. Her 12-year union with the former Paranaque mayor bore four children: Yeoj, VJ, Winwyn and Em Em.

Moreno and Salic reportedly met at the Philippine Councilor’s League, where she used to serve as national secretary general.
