MANILA, Philippines — Some 500 Filipino and foreign darters are expected to participate in the Congressman Manny Pacquiao P1 million Philippine Cup and Open Singles Darts Championships firing off June 10 to 12 at the Clam Shell 1 of the Department of Tourism in Intramuros, Manila.
Lawyer Andrew Arrieta, president of the Darts Council of the Philippines Inc. said Pacquiao has agreed to sponsor the event that will be held under the auspices of the World Darts Federation based in London. Arrieta is the current executive director for administration and finance services of the Philippine Senate.
Pacquiao, Arrieta said, was recently elected chairman of the board of the DCPI and donated P1 million prize.
Foreign players from member countries of the WDF such as Germany, US, England, The Netherlands, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, India and Iran are expected to compete in various events with the local darts enthusiasts who include a number of visiting OFWs from the Middle East countries.
