Kris Aquino on friendship with Diether and P-Noy’s new date

MANILA, Philippines – Trust that when actress-host Kris Aquino speaks, whatever she says almost always make the news.

Whether she is talking about her friendship with actor Diether Ocampo or news about her brother, President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III’s love life, Kris characteristically answers with bluntness that people either love or hate about her.

"Parang hindi na kami [pertaining to Diether Ocampo] close --bakit? Kasi totoo, kasi hindi niya ako nire-replayan.” This is what Kris told abs-cbnNEWS.com, June 2, explaining that Ocampo's seeming cold treatment was why they had apparently drifted apart.

"Kasi alam mo, siya, may kadramahan siya. Kasi ang character niya [si] Marcus Aguilar. Kapag hindi siya nagre-reply sa text or sa BBM, [sinasabi niyang], 'Sorry, naka-Marcus Aguilar ako'. Sabi ko, 'Ah, method acting.' Eh 36 hours bago mag-reply kaya naging inconsistent na din ako. Deadma na," Aquino explained.

The character Marcus Aguilar that Kris mentioned is played by Ocampo in the upcoming action drama series “Guns and Roses” set to air on ABS-CBN starting June 6.

The two Kapamilya stars’ forged a close friendship while they’re working on their 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival entry film “Dalaw.”

The youngest Presidential sister also shared that what possibly ticked off Ocampo was when she and her son Bimby failed to attend a party that the actor organized. Another likely reason was when she left him at a party that was hosted by one of ABS-CBN’s executive.

"Nagkita kami sa party ni Tita Cory. Iniwan ko siya kasi inantok na ako. Sabi niya, 'Ikaw ang nagpapunta-punta dito tapos biglang lumayas ka.' Sabi ko, 'Sleepy na ako.' Kasi ang aga ng call time. 'Yun na ang last," she elaborated in the June 2 abs-cbnNEWS report.

Following Kris estrangement from husband James Yap June last year and prior to the public showing of their horror film (December 2010), rumors romantically linking Kris to her “Dalaw” leading man surfaced---something that Kris belied in an abs-cbnNEWS.com report last April 5, saying, "Kung meron talagang namamagitan sa amin ni Diet, do you think we will be hanging out with each other for all of you to see? Hindi, 'di ba?"

In Ocampo's abs-cbnNEWS.com interview on Mar. 2, the “Guns and Roses” star said, “Best friend ko iyan. Besty nga eh. Besty ang tawag ko diyan [Kris ]. I’m really comfortable kasi it’s been a long time na we haven’t been communicating since we parted ways after 'Dalaw.' It just so happened na she’s single and I’m single. Pero we both know na we’re not ready to get into a serious relationship.”

Meanwhile, loquacious Kris denied rumors tying her to the revelation of her brother’s mystery date.

Late last year, the host was urged to zip her lips on her brother Philippine President Noy-Noy Aquino's personal affairs. In spot.ph December 24 report, P-Noy said “(Kris) doesn't have permission (to talk about my love life)."

Of a recent rumor that she divulged the identity of her brother's purported date, "Super talaga, ayaw ko. Takot ako. Na-headline na nga si Bimby sa Inquirer at binlame-blame pa ako na pagsabihan daw ang sister na kung ayaw pag-usapan ang love life, sabihan ang sister na huwag maging madaldal. Hindi ako 'yon talaga. I swear. I didn't even meet her. I didn't even know her name, her last name, so wala," said Kris in abs-cbnNEWS.com, June 2.

"For the peace of the family, para hindi magalit sa akin, ayaw ko na talagang magsalita," she added.

Obviously aware that meddling in his brother’s romance does no good to their family, Kris shared her very wish for his brother. "We just want his happiness. Kasi 'di ba, a happy President will be an inspired President," Kris said.

While Kris is lately making an effort to refrain from dropping names as to who his brother is dating, in November 2010 she hinted at the brewing romance of his brother to stylist Liz Uy coming right on the heels of P-Noy’s controversial breakup with councilor and host Shalani Soledad. Dec. 23 last year, an article on spot.ph also pointed Kris to be the one who spilled the beans that P-Noy is dating stockbroker Len Lopez.
