At least four predawn quakes rocked Negros Occidental in Western Visayas Monday, with state seismologists warning of possible aftershocks.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the most powerful of the three quakes was recorded at magnitude 5.2.
In its bulletins, Phivolcs said the first quake measured magnitude 3.6 and was recorded at 12:24 a.m.
Phivolcs said the epicenter was 148 km southwest of Bago City.
The quake was felt at Intensity III in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.
A second quake was recorded at 12:43 a.m., at magnitude 5.2.
Its epicenter was 73 km southwest of Cauayan City, Negros Occidental.
The second quake was felt at Intensity IV in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.
The third quake measuring magnitude 4.8 was recorded at 1:40 a.m., with the epicenter at 79 km southwest of Cauayan City, Negros Occidental.
A fourth quake measuring magnitude 2.8 was recorded at 5:40 a.m., with the epicenter at 75 km southwest of Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
While Phivolcs said there was no damage expected, it warned of possible aftershocks from the second and third predawn quakes.
