A magnitude-3.1 quake rocked the Zambales area in Central Luzon before dawn Monday, but there was no initial report of damage or casualty.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake was recorded at 2:45 a.m., and was tectonic in origin.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the epicenter was 35 km northwest of Olongapo City.
However, it did not immediately cite specific areas where the quake was felt.
No aftershock was expected from Monday's predawn quake, Phivolcs said.
