MANILA, Philippines – In an effort to probably smoke the peace pipe with Saranggani Representative Manny Pacquiao, at whom she lashed out following his opposition to the controversial RH Bill, Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago has expressed her plan to invite the Pacquiaos to her renewal of marriage vows in June.

“I will invite Rep. Manny Pacquiao, his wife Jinky, and his mother Dionisia to my wedding anniversary on June 19,” the senator who authored the RH bill tweeted on May 25. Miriam is set to renew her marriage vows with former Interior Undersecretary Narciso Santiago on June 19 at the Manila Cathedral.

She also said on the social networking site that “pugilistic excellence is not one of my ambitions” and that “I feel affection for Pacman and Aling Dionisia because we are all Visayans.”

“Alam mo naman na mahal na mahal kita dahil sa nabigyan mo ng karangalan ang ating bansa. Wala naman akong balak sana na mapagalit o ma-upset ang pamilya mo,” she said in an interview aired on “24 Oras,” May 25.

Prior to changing her tune, the feisty senator, in a previous statement, said she wanted the pound for pound king and Saranggani representative to veer away from arguments concerning the RH bill. “‘Wag mo nang pasukan ito. Kaming mga senador hindi papasok sa pagboksing. Pero kung gusto mo puwede rin,” Miriam said in a previous interview.

Mommy Dionisia, who was unable to control her anger, answered the senator in defense of her son.

“’Wag niya maliitin ang anak ko. Walang respeto, eh. Ang pakialaman n’yo ‘yung malaswa. Gusto ko pakialaman n’yo ‘yung malaswa,” the Pacmom ranted in an interview.

Meanwhile, Manny’s wife, Jinkee, took upon herself to explain her earlier declaration that she’s been using pills, a statement that went against her husband’s stand on reproductive health and opposition of the bill.

“Before pa, noong hindi pa issue ang RH bill, saka before na gumagamit ako na hindi alam ni Manny. Sabi ko, kung hindi pala siya payag na mag-pills ako hindi ko na (sana) ginawa,” Jinky explained on the same evening newscast on GMA-7.

And while she and Manny have four children, Jinky is open to the possibility of getting pregnant again.

“It’s a blessing, so ‘yun. Kung magbuntis, eh di, magpasalamat na lang ako na.... Siguro gusto ng Panginoon na bibigyan pa ako ng isang [pang] anak.”
