MANILA, Philippines – Gerry Perez considers it a gift that his departed son, AJ, made his presence felt in his dream a few days before Father’s Day.

“When we went to Boracay we spent a week and we stayed also in the same place where he (AJ) used to stay. And then the last night before we left for Manila, I would say nagparamdam siya sa akin in my dream,” Gerry recalled on “Showbiz News Ngayon,” June 17.

He continued, “And then [in the dream], there was somebody there na telling me na ‘yun magparamdam siya. Sabi ko, 'Anak maparamdam ka.' And then I felt somebody touching me. And then I said, 'Anak mahal ka namin.' And then I woke up.”

“Kami we try to live our lives as normal as we can,” Gerry said when asked how their life is now without son AJ, who perished in a vehicular accident two months ago.

He claimed, “I’m not a perfect dad just like the rest of us. What I’m saying is I just try to live what AJ would want me to be. So as a dad, binubuhos ko ‘yung attention ko kay Gelo.”

While Gerry longs for his departed son, “Mara Clara” star Julia Montes grew up without a father. Her German dad left her when she was still a baby. All she has left of him is his photo.

Although growing up without a father is difficult for her, she does not blame anyone for her fate. But when asked how she celebrates Father’s Day, Julia simply said, “Wala sa kalendaryo ko ‘yon.”

However, a few father figures from her home studio, ABS-CBN, make up for her dad's absence.

“Ang tatay-tatayan ko sa showbiz marami talaga. Nandyan sina Mr. M (Johnny Manahan), si Sir Deo (Endrinal), si tito Erick John Salut at saka ‘yung dalawang tito ko na nagmamahal sa akin. Siguro sa kanila ko ise-celebrate ‘yung ano... sa kanila ko ihahandog ‘yung Father’s Day,” she said on the same “SNN” episode.

And since “nando’n din ‘yung mama ko, ‘yung lola ko, pinapa-feel nila sa akin na walang kulang.”

Julia has nevertheless found strength in her situation. “Ang masasabi ko lang, wala namang binibigay si God na mga trials o mga consequences sa buhay natin na hindi natin kayang gawin kasi alam Niya lahat ng binibigay niyang problema kaya nating gawin. Go lang. Kaya natin ‘yan. Nandiyan naman si God para umalalay,” she said.
