Toni turns gossip, hurts image

Just a thought: Remember no man who has friends is a failure.

MANILA, Philippines -- Downside of being a gossip: Toni Gonzaga is facing the brunt of being a movie talk show host. She’s forced to become a gossip.

Unfortunately, gossip when spoken or spread by an actress with a wholesome image like Toni, assumes a different, new dimension when passed around.

Being an actress herself, much is expected of Toni as a responsible public figure. Being a gossip, spreading chismis about colleagues, is not one of them.

Toni’s recent comments include her exposé that Sam Milby had wanted to court KC. Recently, the motor-mouth TV host and actress divulged that John Prats had split Rachelle Ann Go.

The latter naturally earned for Toni much ribbing and tongue-lashing from fans and non-fans alike. They figured it wasn’t her business to intrude on personal matters that don’t concern herself, unless she’s really courting dissent.

While such reckless comments allow Toni free publicity, they paint an altogether negative picture of her as a person of responsibility.

Seen and heard: Mariel Rodriguez has written a story for her husband, Robin Padilla. The material is called “Mr. Wong,” which recently made it as one of eight film scripts approved by the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) screening committee. Mariel has threatened to be hands-on in production, collaborating with Joe Carreon for the final script. “Mr. Wong” is eyeing Angelica Panganiban to be Robin’s leading lady.

“My Househusband,” based on a script by Mel del Rosario and directed by Joey Reyes, marks the big-screen comeback of Judy Ann Santos following childbirth. The romantic comedy, produced by Octo Arts, re-teams Juday with her husband, Ryan Agoncillo.
