Daniel Padilla’s Dad Supports ‘KathNiel’

MANILA, Philippines – Daniel Padilla need not worry should he take his onscreen romance with Kathryn Bernardo to another level as his father fully supports him.

Rommel Padilla knows that his son is wooing his “Princess and I” leading lady Kathryn. The Kapamilya teen stars even tagged themselves as MM (Magulong Magkaibigan) when asked recently about the status of their relationship.

While he approves of the budding romance of the phenomenal “KathNiel” tandem, Rommel has a piece of advice for Daniel.

“Basta sabi ko sa kanya, huwag lang siya makakasakit, basta laging tunay lang parati. Pabor naman ako [sa kanila], oo naman. Ako naman sa mga anak ko, kung saan sila maligaya, dun din ako,” the actor said in an interview with Push.

Rommel added that it didn’t surprise him that his son fell for the young actress. “Every time since makilala ko si Kathryn at noong nagsimula silang magkasama sa trabaho, I guess dun naman papunta ’yun, ’yung magiging close talaga sila.”

The rise of Daniel as one of his generation’s hottest teen stars has resulted to rumors that he is now hard to reach. Of this, Rommel said, “Hindi naman siguro. Siyempre ’pag nanggaling ka dun sa hindi ka sikat, of course madali kang malalapitan or hindi ka busy. Ngayon kasi nagiging sobrang busy na si DJ (Daniel’s nickname). Kami nga hindi na kami halos nagkikita pero hindi naman siguro gano’n.”

He assured fans that Daniel is taking showbiz seriously. “Unang-una, lagi kong pinapaalala yung disiplina bilang artista and then doon naman sa pag-arte nila, kanya-kanyang estilo talaga yan eh.”
After their series’ “Royal Ending,” “KathNiel” gears for their launching film this summer and another Kapamilya TV project.
