Kris 'sorry' for backlash on Janine's breakup reveal

Kris Aquino has apologized to Miss Universe 2012 first-runner up Janine Tugonon who received criticisms after announcing her breakup with boyfriend Jaypee Santos on "Kris TV" last April 16.

“Janine, sorry that you had to go through all that because you wanted to be honest while you were on the show and siguro ‘yun na lang, next time sa cooking portion ko, mag-iingat na ako sa mga tinatanong ko,” the actress-host said on the same show on April 23.

Kris pointed out that Janine made the revelation without being prompted.

“Tinanong ko ba kung break sila? Parang hindi ko naman tinanong ‘di ba? Siya nagsabi!” the TV host said. “Nakialam lang ako du’n sa tinola dahil sinabi ko na kulang ‘yung chicken at kulang ‘yung tubig.”

Kris admitted that she, too, was hooked on The Script’s “Breakeven” when she was brokenhearted.

“Talagang naka-repeat mode ‘yung ‘Breakeven.’ Ang ganda non,” she enthused.

The Queen of All Media defended the beauty queen, noting that some people are siding with Jaypee just because he seems to be the underdog in the hullabaloo.

“Ang painful kasi maybe ‘di ba? Ang Philippines, we love an underdog. Noong nanalo si Janine, ano bang ginawa ng Pilipinas? – sinabi na hindi deserve ni Jaypee si Janine, ‘di ba? Kasi ‘di ba ang dami nagsabi before na... hindi siya ganon ka-cute, and all,” Kris pointed out. “Noong time na ‘yon pinagtanggol (siya) ni Janine.”

She further insisted that it was not Janine’s fault that Danny O'Donoghue of The Script had asked her when they met after their Manila concert to follow him on Twitter. At the time of the meeting, Janine was with Jaypee.

“I think ha, in my opinion lang kasi kasalanan ito ni guy, The Script (referring to Danny) kasi alam naman niyang may boyfriend ‘yung tao eh,” Kris stressed.

She added, “Tao lang naman siguro si Janine…” Her guest co-host Melissa Cantiveros butted in, “---na nasilaw sa kanyang ka-gwapuhan!”

According to a report, Janine is still in France and her management had already directed her to not comment on the matter. The beauty queen also stopped posting her sentiments on Twitter. Her last tweet dated April 16 read: “Stop jumping into conclusions.. Nothing's going on!!!”
