Barely had typhoon "Butchoy" (Guchol) left Philippine territory when another tropical cyclone threatens to enter the country's area of responsibility this week.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the tropical storm codenamed "Talim" is now over the West Philippine Sea.

"Tropical Storm 'Talim' (is) over the West Philippine Sea (and) is expcted to enter the Philippine area of responsibility this week. It is forecast to track towards Taiwan and will enhance Habagat," it said on its Twitter account.

Should "Talim" enter Philippine territory, it will be locally codenamed "Cosme," the third cyclone in the Philippine area of responsibility so far this year.

PAGASA expects some 20 cyclones to enter or form inside Philippine territory this year.

As of Monday morning, "Butchoy" was still in Philippine territory, although it is heading for Southern Japan.

"Butchoy" had enhanced the southwest monsoon and brought heavy rain to parts of Luzon and Mindanao while it was inside Philippine territory.

PAGASA forecaster Ben Oris said "Butchoy" was expected to exit Philippine territory by Monday night or Tuesday morning.
